Hello, everybody, we are not doing music and stuff. Ixchell, how are you?
Ixchell Reyes
I’m doing okay, considering the circumstances. How are you?
Brent Warner
Yeah, I am. I’m holding up. Okay. I, you know, I think right now, we are not doing an episode today. Just because we’re quite distracted and kind of focused on some of the Ukraine stuff and just reflecting problems, issues in the world, all that type of stuff that comes up every once in a while. And, you know, you and I were talking about a little bit about it.
Ixchell Reyes
I think it’s, you know, it’s appropriate to take some time. And we know that many of us are have students out there all over the world, not just you know, Ukraine and Russia, but we have students and other areas of conflict as well. And as language teachers, this affects affects us, and it’s going to affect others, as well, even if you’re not in language, but this is going to create a crisis where we’re gonna see refugees, you know, we we might be taking refugees, we don’t know. But again, a lot of just a time to reflect, I think.
Brent Warner
Yeah, I think it’s worth, you know, stepping aside a little bit, we don’t need to talk about all the, the teaching stuff so much, today, we can just kind of reflect on the humans who are out there. And we’re going to put some links to some charities that you can donate to in the show notes. So I guess we’ll do DIESOL.org/ukraine I guess this is not really an episode. And so we’ll just put that on there. I have a handful one of my colleagues from Romania, created a GoFundMe that’s got 100% pass through rate for supporting refugees who are in her coming into Romania, and there are a handful of other ones you shall know you’ve been collecting and sharing them out. It’s, you know, it’s dark, there’s dark stuff going on. There’s also like, really nice silver linings, not that we not that we would want them if we can choose. But you know, I’ve seen these, like, the neighboring countries going out and going out of their way to help people and, you know, really making support. And, and I think, you know, I’ve got students from Ukraine right now. And we’ve had our own students from the past. And so I think just trying to reach out, trying to, you know, continue to make sure that we’re connecting with people.
Ixchell Reyes
Yeah, hold hold space for those who need it, if you’ve got the space, it’s so important to support each other. Because we are going through some more global trauma of a different type, you know, we’ve got Corona, and then all sorts of things. But as Brent, as you said, it’s so important not to fall into apathy or hopelessness of things, because we are going to get through it. Yeah, everything passes. So it’s just
Brent Warner
so I mean, we, I think it’s good for us to do this and pause the show every once in a while, we’ll be back of course. But and, you know, with with, with more stuff to move forward with but for right now, you know, if you have a little money if you have $5, if you have $100. And if you can spare depart with it. There’s some people that could really benefit and so I think we’ll just kind of leave it at that for today. Yes, we appreciate everybody listening in and sorry, we don’t have an episode for you today. But you know, there’s there’s stuff out there for you. So we’ll be back.
Ixchell Reyes
We will see you soon.
Brent Warner
